NRW bags Marandoo contract

Rio Tinto has awarded a contract worth approximately A$37 million (US$28.8 million) to NRW for bulk earthworks and associated civil works at the Southern Waste Fines Storage Facility at the Marandoo mine in the Pilbara, Western Australia

The works will include:

  • Construction of Stage 1A and 1B of the Southern Waste Fines Storage Facility, which includes over 1,500,000cm of embankment construction; and
  • 4km of access road, which includes over 600,000cm of embankment construction.

The contract is expected to run for 44 weeks, commencing on site in April 2018. At its peak there will be over 100 workers required for the project.

NRW will utilise its existing civil construction fleet for the project.
