10-11 November 2010

Hyatt, Perth
  Mining Magazine Congress

Following its highly successful launch last year, the Mining Magazine  Congress has announced plans for 2010 which will see this unique event  moving down under to Perth, Western Australia.

Announcing this year's event, Mining  Magazine editor, Paul Moore, said plans were to stay with the  Congress's winning formula of a high level conference combined with a  focussed exhibition but to take it to the other side of the world on  November 10 and 11, 2010. The Congress, which will include exhibition  space for 60 stands, consists of four main themes – Drilling and  Blasting; Loading and Hauling; Crushing and Conveying and Processing.  In addition, the 2010 Mining Magazine Awards will also be presented  during the event.

Mining in a Day

18th June 2010

City of London Club, Old Broad Street, LondonMining in a Day

Mining Journal presents a back-to-basics day-long seminar on the mining industry. Three mining experts provide a comprehensive but straightforward (no jargon) explanation of what the global mining industry is, and how it works.

The event is aimed at people working in associated sectors (the financial community, lawyers, PR companies, equipment manufacturers, service providers, etc) who would benefit from an overview of mining, and be in a better position as a result to develop more business opportunities.

“We all have knowledge gaps, and our ‘Mining in a Day’ seminar will help fill many of them,” said Chris Hinde, the editorial director of Mining Journal, which hosts the event.

Mining engineer Dr Hinde is joined by Professor Phillip Crowson (former chief economist at Rio Tinto and director of the London Metal Exchange) and Dr Ed Sides (principal resource geologist for the AMEC Consultancy).

Mining, People and the Environment

mpe-conference-logo-smallWelcoming around 150 delegates to this first event discussing corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the mining industry, Mining, People and the Environment provoked excellent debate and lively discussion about the topics covered.

Our keynote presenter, Marketa Evans, extractive sector CSR counsellor at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada urged the industry to do more to improve its CSR reputation. The day progressed with further presentations on topics from rights and access to water to the implementation of the PDAC’s E3 Plus toolkit, and while the day covered a plethora of important issues in the CSR space, the key reoccurring message was engaging with communities to achieve that essential ‘social licence to operate’.

13TH INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON PASTE & THICKENED TAILINGS

TORONTO, CANADA, MAY 3-6, 2010

PASTE TECHNOLOGY - IMPROVING OUR WORLD!

PASTE 2010During the past three decades, the application of paste technology has progressed from a research based concept to a widely accepted and extensively practiced engineering solution for managing mineral waste. It is now readily recognized that significant engineering, scheduling, production and environmental benefits have been gained in the mining industry from the use of paste technology.

The regulatory pressures to eliminate the liability inherent with the use of traditional tailing dams, the world-wide emphasis on conserving water resources and the cost savings created through reduced capital expenditures and faster permitting, have all combined to make paste technology a sought-after engineering solution that is expanding within and beyond the mining industry.

The 2010 International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings will focus on discussing how the scientific advances made in the application of paste technology can improve the ability of a variety of industries, in addition to mining, to manage their mineral waste streams.
