Acoustic Zoom, an advanced geophysics company specialising in innovative seismic solutions, was awarded the top prize at #DisruptMining 2018, an innovation accelerator designed to encourage new technologies and ideas to solve some of the biggest challenges in mining. Over 100 international submissions were entered into #DisruptMining 2018, representing completely new ideas and disruptive technologies to tackle the challenges and leverage opportunities within the mining industry.

Acoustic Zoom is an advanced geophysics company specialising in innovative seismic solutions creating technologies proven to enhance the value of seismic surveys.

Acoustic Zoom aims to unlock the potential of Canada's mineral exploration sector with high frequency 3-D and 4-D imaging to map complex geological formations deep within the earth's micro-structure. Acoustic Zoom's method is intended to help exploration teams drill smarter, guide planning and achieve investment value quicker with more actionable and accurate information.

As part of Goldcorp's investment, Sergio Espinosa, director of geophysics at Goldcorp, will join Acoustic Zoom's board of directors. A US$150,000 pilot programme will launch this summer at Goldcorp's Red Lake gold mines in Ontario, Canada.

Professor Jacques Guigné, CEO of Acoustic Zoom, said: "#DisruptMining completely accelerated our business, and we thank Goldcorp for sharing our vision to drill smarter using innovative technology. The strength of our approach is the ability to adapt our imaging techniques to the requirements of a particular site. Working with Goldcorp's geologists, we will use our winning seismic technology to deliver unique imaging data that adds risk-mitigating value from exploration to mine planning."

Todd White, chief operating officer of Goldcorp, added: "After competing as a semi-finalist in #DisruptMining 2017, they perfected their technology and submitted again in 2018, this time earning a spot as a finalist, and ultimately coming out as the clear winner. We are excited to grow our partnership with Acoustic Zoom as we kick off the pilot programme at Red Lake. We expect their story will continue as they collaborate with other players across the entire mining industry."
