Sherwood Copper's Minto mine is ashowcase for the Yukon mining and explorationindustry. Minto is a high-gradeopen-pit copper-gold mine, developed ontime and on budget a major accomplishmentconsidering its location, 240km northwest ofWhitehorse in the Yukon. The development time wasonly 28 months from acquisition in June 2005 untilthe start of commercial production in October 2007.The open-pit mine, which originally produced1,560t/d, is now in its third phase of expansion to3,200t/d and is reviewing a fourth phase to reach 4,000-5,000t/d within the next year.
