Metso adds new capacity
METSO Minerals has signed an agreement with GE Energy to acquire GE’s Lachine Main Plant a heavy fabrication and machining facility located near Montreal Quebec. The transaction was expected to close in mid-August and the financial terms were not disclosed. The acquired assets will be integrated into Metso Minerals’ Mining business line. WEIR Minerals Netherlands recently installed its 1 000th GEHO piston diaphragm pump at the Coral Bay Nickel plant at Rio Tuba in the Philippines which was officially inaugurated in June at a ceremony attended by representatives from Coral Bay Nickel Corp and contractor JGC Corp. Weir described the event as ”a milestone in the history of the company since it started the engineering and manufacturing of these pumps in 1968 for the transportation of ores minerals and mine-processing tailings”. THE EH3500ACII represents Hitachi’s latest offering to the mining market and features its proven IGBT drive system traction alternator and traction motors. According to Hitachi these components have a very good history in passenger trains automation systems and other drive applications with trucks being the latest product to feature the technology.
