JSC Belshina based in Bobruisk first announced in October 2007 that it had designed and produced a new off-the-road radial tyre 33.00R51 (pictured) known as model Bel-162. The tubeless all-steel radial tyre can be fitted to haul trucks with capacity of 120-140t. At the time the company said the “rock tread pattern of this tyre ensures excellent road grip increased resistance to tread wear cuts and chippings and corresponds to the latest requirements of OTR technology”. AT THE MINExpo show LeTourneau Technologies will launch the latest addition to its large wheel loader range – the 19.1m3 bucket capacity 34.5t payload and 131.5t operating weight L-1150. FOLLOWING on from the news earlier this year that Komatsu and Rio Tinto are working together on automating trucks at Rio’s iron-ore operations in Australia’s Pilbara region Caterpillar has now announced what it described as an “alignment” with BHP Billiton to develop an autonomous mining haulage system. Caterpillar group president Stu Levenick commented: “This close collaboration will focus on Caterpillar building an autonomous haulage system that will tightly integrate with BHP Billiton mining processes.” Full story...Battery haulage at Knight Hawk
One user is coal miner Knight Hawk Coal LLC which operates in southern Illinois. Dale Winter production superintendent said the flexibility of battery face haulage is an advantage as it gives the mine the ability to operate three to five haulers behind the continuous miner based on the distance from the feeder breaker. SOUTH Africa-based DRA Mineral Projects has announced that it is on schedule with the construction of a platinum concentrator and associated infrastructure for Boynton Investments’ new Pilanesberg Platinum Mines project. WITH the launch of the new R9350 and R9250 the main gap in Liebherr’s product range was an excavator to compete with the ultra-class machines from its competitors – namely the Hitachi EX8000 Komatsu PC8000 and still by far the largest of them all the Terex O&K RH400.
