VR truck bodies at Sishen
South Africa-based VR Steel is making progress with the rollout of its VR Truck Body product, which has been in use for the last year at Kumba Iron Ore’s Sishen mine. Of Sishen’s main fleet of 44 Komatsu 730E diesel-electric drive trucks (of which 42 operate under trolley-assist), two have been running with VR bodies installed since January 2008. An order for a further nine is in the process of being completed.

JSC Belshina based in Bobruisk first announced in October 2007 that it had designed and produced a new off-the-road radial tyre 33.00R51 (pictured) known as model Bel-162. The tubeless all-steel radial tyre can be fitted to haul trucks with capacity of 120-140t. WEIR Minerals Netherlands recently installed its 1 000th GEHO piston diaphragm pump at the Coral Bay Nickel plant at Rio Tuba in the Philippines which was officially inaugurated in June at a ceremony attended by representatives from Coral Bay Nickel Corp and contractor JGC Corp. METSO Minerals has signed an agreement with GE Energy to acquire GE’s Lachine Main Plant a heavy fabrication and machining facility located near Montreal Quebec.
