Mincom, the software and services provider that is now part of ABB, has announced a significant contract with Allied Nevada Gold, a US-based gold mining and exploration company. Under the agreement, Allied Nevada has licensed Ellipse 8, a mobile-enabled Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution designed specifically for asset-intensive industries such as mining.

Allied Nevada will deploy the Ellipse 8 suite of solutions, including applications for enterprise asset and work management, finance and human resources, as well as the Mincom Integration Platform and Mincom Enterprise Reporting & Analytics. Allied Nevada has also licensed Mincom LinkOne, a solution for electronic parts catalogues and maintenance manuals.

Jim Cameron, CIO of Allied Nevada Gold, said: “Mincom has more than three decades of domain expertise, and a proven track record in the mining industry with many of the world’s leading mining organisations. With Ellipse 8, we believe Mincom has solidified its position as the world’s best-in-class EAM and ERP provider. After a thorough evaluation, we selected Ellipse 8 as the best solution to support our business objectives, now and in the future as we expand operations.”

He added: “With Ellipse 8, we’re also implementing a modern platform for enterprise asset management with a Web-based architecture and light footprint that can help us significantly reduce IT costs and resource requirements.”

Craig Jones, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at Mincom, commented: “We continue to witness growing momentum around the adoption of Ellipse 8 among today’s mining leaders, and are pleased that another innovative mining leader such as Allied Nevada has adopted the solution to underpin such a mission-critical process. 17 of the world’s top 20 mining companies currently use Mincom’s solutions to improve the efficiency and productivity of their operations. We look forward to further extending our domain expertise on behalf of today’s mining leaders.”
