BELAZ and Mechel sign giant truck deal

Belarusian Autoworks (BELAZ) has signed a strategic agreement with Russian mining company Mechel.

Over the next ten years, BELAZ will deliver up to 900 mining dump trucks from 136-320t payload capacity – 80-90 units annually.
According to the agreement, a joint venture will also be founded for service support of the equipment, which will be used to develop the Elginski coalfield in the Republic of Sakha, Yakutia, Russia.

In addition, it is expected that starting in the second half of 2012, BELAZ will obtain a license to produce bodies for the dump trucks in Yakutia.
