Caterpillar has reached an agreement with Simformotion LLC to deliver operator training simulator solutions to heavy equipment owners and training organisations. The agreement calls for Simformotion to develop, manufacture, and distribute Caterpillar branded operator training simulator products through its Morton, Illinois headquarters beginning in the first quarter 2009.
This agreement will result in an expansion of the Caterpillar simulator product line and an expansion of targeted customers, specifically educational and training institutions.
“Our long and successful relationship with Simformotion, its reputation for quality and reliability with our dealer network, and the integration of their leading edge technology focus with the Caterpillar brand will ensure that our operator training simulator products will continue to meet and exceed the needs of the heavy equipment industries we serve,” commented Larry Estep, program manager for Caterpillar Equipment Training Solutions.
In addition to this announcement Caterpillar has also released updates to a number of it smaller dozers and tractors.
The new D7E track dozer will be unveiled to equipment owners and operators in a series of demonstrations taking place this summer across North America. The improved design utilises an electric drive system to deliver 10-30% greater fuel economy, greater productivity and lower lifetime service costs.
The smallest of the Cat wheel tractor-scraper line, the 613, has been upgraded to G-Series performance, comfort and serviceability standards. The new model features increases in power train efficiency, rimpull, elevator speed and travel speed. The 613G is more productive than its predecessor and can load material as much as 13% faster. Other enhancements promote safe operation and maintenance.
The Cat D6N track-type tractor has also undergone a redesign. Caterpillar has enhanced the unit with electro-hydraulic controls, a refined operator station and features which allow for easy services. The new additions will help to give operators precise control with lower operating costs.
