Fordia, provider of global drilling and geotechnical solutions, has launched the Eider series - a new series of diamond drills for the mineral exploration industry. Designed, developed and manufactured in Canada, Eider drills are available in a range of drilling capacities.
With depth capacities of 200m, 450m and 1100m in standard NWL, Eider drills are equally suited to surface and underground operations. The surface drills are available with a conversion kit that is specially designed to facilitate the transition between the two types of application. This adaptability allows drilling companies offering both surface and underground services to fill their technical requirements while also minimising operating costs.
Eider diamond drills are available with a steel structure for greater toughness. For some models, a lightweight aluminium structure is also offered for fly jobs. An optional oversized guard is offered as an additional protection for the drillers, increasing on-site safety. Other new features include two hydraulic pumps for a greater and independent water pressure control.
Mario Rouillier, president of Forages Rouillier, said : “Forages Rouillier highly appreciates their latest acquisition: Fordia’s Eider drills. Their light and modular conception is great for both helicopter-jobs and wherever transportation on tracks is required. This type of drill is an excellent compromise between lightweight and performance.’’
