IZ-KARTEKS, part of the OMZ Group, has manufactured and shipped an EKG-10 shovel equipped with a 13m3 bucket to Baganuur, the largest coal strip mine in Mongolia.

The EKG-10 is the most popular electric shovel model manufactured by the company. The model features a comfortable, sound proof operator cabin with heating and air conditioning, plus panoramic views and a vibration reduction system. The planetary reduction gears are compact and reliable, and are capable of handling varying loads.

Baganuur coal strip mine is a state-owned facility, built according to a Soviet project and commissioned in August 1978. Baganuur coal reserves amount to 600Mt, annual output is around 3Mt of coal. The facility aims to increase its output to 4Mt/y of coal in the near future.
