Loading & Hauling
Copper Mountain Mining Corp has announced that it has ordered over US$70 million worth of loading and hauling equipment for its Copper Mountain project in British Columbia, Canada. The company has placed orders through SMS Equipment for a fleet of Komatsu mobile mining equipment to be delivered in stages over the next 18 months.
The equipment package includes; two Komatsu PC8000 electric hydraulic face-shovels with 42m3 buckets; 13 – 240t 830E AC electric drive haul trucks; one WA1200 front end loader; two D375A track dozers and one WD600 wheel dozer.
James O’Rourke, CEO of Copper Mountain Mining said: “We are extremely happy with the commitment that we have received from SMS Equipment and Komatsu in making this transaction work. We look forward to a long term relationship that will help the mine maintain favourable costs and high productivity.”
The announcement follows an earlier decision, reported recently by Mining Magazine, to award ABB a contract worth US$19 million for the delivery of mill drive systems to Copper Mountain.
Mill foundations work at the project is progressing well. In December 2009, concrete will be poured to complete the building foundations in preparation for the erection of the building steel in the spring of 2010, and preproduction mining is scheduled to start in June 2010.
