Liebherr Mining Equipment Co has announced the sale of fourteen 400t payload class trucks to Peabody Energy. The trucks will be delivered in 2010 to mines in the Wyoming Powder River Basin area. Liebherr’s Gillette, Wyoming facility will continue to support Peabody’s mines in the region.

One truck will go to Caballo mine, located about 32km south of Gillette. Caballo mine shipped 31Mt of coal in 2008. Ten Liebherr trucks currently operate at this site.

The remaining thirteen trucks will go to North Antelope Rochelle mine. The mine is located 104km south of Gillette and shipped a record 97.5Mt of coal in 2008. The purchase of the trucks is part of Peabody’s recent investments in world-class equipment to continuously drive productivity while reducing costs.
