MDM Engineering Group has been awarded the increased throughput design update and cost revalidation of the bankable feasibility study for Africo Resources’ Kalukundi Project, in the Katanga Province of the DRC.

MDM completed a bankable feasibility study in 2006 for the Kalukundi copper-cobalt deposit, based on a plant throughput of 800,000t/y.

Africo has now requested that MDM complete a review and cost update for the previous study and front end engineering design. The review will be based on a throughput of 1.25Mt/y.

George Bennett, executive director of MDM said: “MDM is pleased to be working with Africo on the next phase of the Kalukundi project. We believe that our team’s extensive experience in the DRC will be of great value to this project.”
