Mechel completes Elga rail link

Mechel has announced the completion of track laying activities along the railway link from Ulak station to the Elga coal deposit in Russia. The mine is being developed by its Yakutugol Holding Co subsidiary.
The last section of the 321km-long track was laid in December 2011. This has opened traffic along the entire route from Baikal-Amur Mainline’s Ulak station to the Elga deposit. Construction of the railway has so far has required an investment of US$1.25 billion.
