Metso will supply three complete ball mills, plus related equipment and services to Kinross Gold Corp for its Morro do Ouro mine in Paracatu, located 230km south from Brazil’s capital Brasília. The delivery will be completed by June 2010. The order is included in Metso’s Mining and Construction division March quarter orders.

Besides the ball mills, Metso’s scope of supply also includes a mill jack cradle, spare parts, and site erection supervision services. The company has already supplied one SAG mill and two ball mills for the grinding circuit.

New MP1250 cone crusher
Metso has also announced the launch of the Nordberg MP1250 cone crusher, the newest addition to its product line. The crusher provides up to a 30% increase in capacity compared to the MP1000 model, as a result of an increased power rating and advanced crushing dynamics with no increase in foot print size.

Key features of the MP1250 include: a redesigned mainframe for improved durability; a new eccentric design that provides improved surface finish and protects components in the event of overload; and a new head bushing design that further reduces head spin during no-load operation without the need for a mechanical clutch assembly.
 
An advanced Gradation Auto-Setting System eliminates the need for frequent calibration and continually monitors product size for more consistent crushing and output. Easier maintenance is achievable with bolt-on counterweight liners; a new head-nut or locknut that only requires common hand tools to replace; fewer accumulators to charge and monitor; fewer adjustment motors to service; and faster bowl removal.

Many of the select upgrade features are available as individual components and Metso also offers an MP1250 retrofit kit for customers who want to upgrade their existing MP1000 cone crushers. The kit includes a new sleeved, high-throw eccentric; large counterweight with bolt-on guard; upper head bushing; head ball; and socket liner.
