Crushing & Conveying
Metso is celebrating the inauguration of an expansion to its crusher factory in Tianjin, China. The value of the investment implemented in 2008 was EUR 5 million, comprising of a new workshop and warehouse, as well as an upgrade of the factory building and production equipment. The expansion helps fulfill the company's aim to strengthen its presence, capability and supply capacity in the emerging market.
Metso began manufacturing crushers in Tianjin in 1999, and moved to the now-expanded, wholly-owned premises in 2002. The expansion will double the production capacity at the Tianjin plant, and increase the factory's floor space to 7,500sq/m. Metso's manufacturing portfolio will be extended to include several new small crusher models and the factory will start producing screens and feeders, allowing the company's other manufacturing units to focus on larger and tailor-made crusher models. The new plant layout is also expected to help increase manufacturing efficiency.
The Tianjin factory not only serves Metso's Chinese and Asian based customers but also supports its mining and construction clients on a global basis. The expansion strengthens the facility’s position as one of the main manufacturing units in Metso’s construction business line.
The announcement comes as Metso's Mining and Construction business also celebrates the tenth anniversary of its manufacturing activities in China.
