Outotec has signed a contract with ZAO Miheevsky, a subsidiary of Russian Copper Co, for the design and delivery of a new copper concentrator for the Miheevsky porphyry-copper project in Cheylabinsk, Russia. The contract value exceeds US$85.1 million, which will be booked in Outotec’s September quarter intake.
Outotec’s scope of delivery covers process design and engineering package for the whole concentrator, supply of the main process equipment for flotation and dewatering including twelve of the world’s largest TankCell 300 flotation machines. It also includes Proscon automation, instrumentation, electrification, spare parts and training as well as site supervision services for installation and start-up. The equipment deliveries will take place during 2012 and 2013.
The Miheevsky concentrator is planned to treat 18Mt/y of copper ore and it is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2013.
Pertti Korhonen, president and CEO of Outotec, said: "Outotec has been a long-term strategic partner for Russian Copper Co, which is the third largest copper producer in Russia. We have designed and delivered their two concentrators at Aktogai in Kazakhstan. Our cooperation continues now with this notable project in Russia, where Russian Copper Co already operates two smaller concentrator plants, a metallurgical plant at Novgorod and a solvent extraction and electrowinning plant at Polevskoy, all delivered by Outotec. This new concentrator will offer high recovery of copper with low energy consumption and lifetime operating cost".
