Active Control Technology and Advantage PressurePro have announced that they will team up to provide real-time, centralised tyre pressure monitoring in conjunction with Active Control’s wireless communications system, for use in the mining industry.
The two companies will integrate PressurePro’s tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with Active Control’s ActiveMine, a wireless voice communications and locating system for mines. The combined technologies will transmit mine machinery tyre pressure alerts in real-time to mine managers via a broad band wireless network, enabling fast corrective action and long term monitoring of tyre performance.
Phillip Zaroor, president and CEO of PressurePro commented: “Our partnership with Active Control will provide the market with a complete monitoring package that not only includes TPMS, but an entire range of vehicle information that can be monitored from an office-based management system.”
The systems are designed to deliver significant cost savings to mine operators through the prevention of tyre damage, decreased equipment downtime, extended tyre life, and improved fuel efficiency. These benefits are particularly valuable for surface mines, most of which operate machinery with very large and expensive tyres. Due to a worldwide shortage of specialised off-road mine tyres, some of which cost more than $100,000 each, it can take as long as two years to obtain replacements.
“We will provide a unique offering to mines that can help maximise equipment up-time and deliver impressive cost savings,” said Steve Barrett, president and CEO, Active Control. “We look forward to working with PressurePro to help our customers get more out of their mine.”
