Crushing & Conveying

In January 2010, a FAMUR Group longwall system delivered to Russian coal producer, Kuzbassrazriezugol Coal Co’s Baikaimska mine in Siberia, produced a record output of 193,000t coal in a single month. The system has now mined a total of 1Mt of coal.

The longwall system is the first complete Polish longwall system to operate in Russia, and is designed to mine coal seams with a thickness exceeding five meters.

Operating conditions at the mine are very difficult. The seam incline of up to 25º requires specific adjustments of the equipment. All elements of the longwall system are prepared for this and have been adjusted to suit the environment. The hydraulic control system is filled with fluid resistant to temperatures down to -50ºC and the powered roof supports equipped with special seals and anticorrosive rewelded layers.

Successful commissioning of the system was carried out by team of 10 professionals and miners, who trained the staff at Baikaimska mine.
