SGS acquires CIMM T&S

SGS has announced its acquisition of CIMM Tecnologías y Servicios, which has operations in Santiago, Antofagasta, Calama, Copiapó, La Serena and Rancagua, Chile. CIMM T&S provides technical services to the mining industry in Chile, focusing on geology and mining, metallurgy, environmental management, analytical services and industrial support.
CIMM T&S has provided services to the Chilean mining community since 1996, including resource and geometallurgical services, analytical services, design and commissioning of geochemical and metallurgical facilities, metallurgical testing at the bench and pilot scale, hydrometallurgical services, mineralogy, plant operation and control services, outsourcing, production quality control, environmental monitoring and consultation. It is a publicly-owned company that employs over 2,000 staff, and its revenues for 2011 are projected to exceed US$65 million.
Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS, said: “I am very happy with this acquisition. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to and confidence in Chile. CIMM T&S will bring us new skills and will support our expansion in South America.”
