Vale has chosen QMASTOR for the provision of its Pit to Plant and iFuse systems for installation at its Onça Puma nickel operations in the Brazilian state of Pará. QMASTOR will supply Vale with a comprehensive Pit to Plant information system that includes: intermediate, buffer and homogenised stockpile management; ore blending optimisation; and mine, intermediate and homogenised stockpiles reconciliation.
The implementation will include automated data transfers for several systems including ABB control system Historian, Devex SmartMine and acQuire.
Fernando Marino, Vale Onça Puma general manager mine operations, said: “We look forward to partnering with QMASTOR and the benefits in operational efficiency and decision making that their solution will bring.”
Peter Charnock, QMASTOR general manager, sales and marketing, commented: “The Onça Puma project extends QMASTOR’s growing base of installations in the nickel market, which already includes Vale’s Goro operations in New Caledonia.
“This Portuguese based multi-lingual solution reflects QMASTORs capability to rapidly expand our presence in key markets.”
