In January 2015, Sandvik Mining launched two new mid-range mining crushers - the Sandvik CH860 for high-capacity secondary crushing and the Sandvik CH865 for high-reduction tertiary and pebble applications.

The Sandvik CH865 will replace a previous crusher at the mine and will deliver more final product in a tertiary crushing stage application, allowing increased milling throughput. Milling is often a processing bottleneck, and the CH865 provides increased size reduction and delivers a more final product (P80) to the mill, thereby allowing the mine to increase mill throughput and improving productivity. It is also more cost effective to increase the crushing plant capacity rather than expanding the milling circuit.

Mats Lindegren, general manager at Björkdalsgruvan, said: “We chose the Sandvik CH865 crusher because it will allow us to increase our crushing circuit productivity without expanding our site infrastructure.”

Ulf Carlqvist, business line line manager, crushing & screening, sales area Europe at Sandvik Mining, explained: “In these challenging times mines are often looking for increased productivity without necessarily expanding their plant. The Sandvik CH860 and Sandvik CH865 are easy to install as replacements to achieve this, as has been proven in the extensive field testing we have performed.”
