Canadian miner Hudson Resources said work at its White Mountain anorthosite (calcium feldspar) mine in Greenland is now 95% complete and it's moving towards plant commissioning within the next few weeks

White Mountain's process plant and product storage buildings have both been completed, and crews have installed all of the project's major mechanical equipment, including conveyors, hoppers and chutes.

Contractor partner Lillegaarden EL has wrapped up the main electrical installations at the mine. Completion of the component installations is set for the end of this month.

In addition, just 500m remain on the project to build a road from the mine to the port.

Company president James Tuer confirmed the work at White Mountain, which is processing on budget, brings it a step closer to shipping product.

"The execution of the construction phase this year has been a great success and has met all of our expectations from a safety, cost and scheduling perspective," he said.

Hudson's anorthosite is a calcium feldspar rock, which primarily consists of aluminum (31%), silicon (50%) and calcium (15%). The White Mountain anorthsoite is unique in its size and purity, according to company officials; the only larger anorthosite occurrence is on the moon.

Hudson owns 100% interest in White Mountain, which has a 100-year estimated mine life currently and is already fully permitted for 50 years.
