Acoustic Zoom’s entry was an ultra-high-frequency 3-D drill-hole seismic imaging solution, and as the winner, the company earned the opportunity to negotiate a contract or investment of up to C$1 million (US$770,000) with Goldcorp.

Jacques Guigné, CEO and chief scientist professor at Acoustic Zoom, said its aim is to boost investors’ confidence and the value of drill results with its acoustic technology.

“Our technology maps deep within the earth's microstructure, helping exploration teams drill smarter, guide planning and achieve investment value quick,” he explained.

According to the company, the method can potentially reduce 3-D survey costs by up to 90%.

Acoustic Zoom already earned a spot as a semi-finalist at #DisruptMining 2017, and after refining its technology, it re-submitted the solution in 2018.

Goldcorp’s COO Todd White believes this type of innovation will help the miner become a technology company – a well as a mining company – faster.

CEO David Garofalo announced that net proceeds of $230,000 from the #DisruptMining live finale will be granted toward mining, innovation and technology scholarships to the University of British Columbia over the next three years.
