The Russian diamond miner has decided to bring the processing plant of the Lomonosov Mining and Processing Division back into operation a month earlier than planned due to an improvement in the global diamond market.

The company had initially planned to restart operations at the plant, part of its PJSC Severalmaz division in the Arkhangelsk oblast of Russia, in April, but has now brought this forward to March 1.

The plant was suspended in October, when Severalmaz switched to seasonal operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a reduced group production plan.

Preparatory and repair works are now underway to minimise forced shutdowns of the plant after relaunch and ensure that the planned production programme is completed. It was planned to process 3 million tonnes of ore in 2021.
