Decmil wins contract at Iron Bridge

Contractor Decmil will soon go to work at Fortescue’s Iron Bridge magnetite project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia after winning a A$41 million (US$30 million) deal for non-mining process infrastructure works.

Iron Bridge is in Western Australia's Pilbara region

Decmil's scope of work under the deal includes the design and construction of a bulk fuel storage and transfer facility as well as a mobile maintenance complex, site service faciliries, warehouses and associated satellite offices.

The bulk fuel storage and transfer facility will serve as a refuelling facility for heavy vehicles. The mobile maintenance complex features a heavy vehicle workshop along with locker storage, tool storage and an administration area.

Work is scheduled to commence this month and be completed by May 2021.

Iron Bridge, a joint venture between the miner's FMC Iron Bridge subsidiary and Formosa Steel, has a total price tag of US$2.6 billion. The company has targeted the first half of 2022 for first concentrate production.
