Weir adds safety feature to Warman pump range

Weir has globally released the newest addition to its product line-up: telescopic gland seal guards that can protect maintenance workers as they make adjustments to its Warman range of slurry pumps.

The guards can be retrofitted to any Warman pump without disassembling it, and they do not need to be removed for adjustments to the gland seal followers. The result is a routine task made safer.

The guards are made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion and are painted yellow for quick identification as a safety feature. The guards are compliant with global standards including ISO 14120, ISO 13857, AS4024.1601 and AS4024.1801.

They are available for most Warman pumps including the MCR, WBH and AH, and can be ordered in other designs.

"We need to adjust the glands whilst the pump is in operation. Historically this meant removing the guard and exposing personnel to rotating parts," said Marcus Lane, global product manager for centrifugal pumps.

"The new guards never need to be removed during pump operation and address a number of safety concerns our service teams frequently observe on-site. Warman telescopic gland seal guards fully protect maintenance personnel from potentially dangerous situations arising from an exposed shaft."
