According to The North West Star, the temporary suspension of the project near Cloncurry will allow for the plant's ball mill to be relined, the overhaul of other assets and additional business improvement projects.

"This suspension is vital for Rocklands' operations and the future of this important asset," chairman Peter Hutchison said.

"During this period our major shareholder representatives will [also] continue to progress a number of funding initiatives which have been in active discussion for some time now and which we are confident will provide effective solutions to immediate and longer-term funding requirements."

In CuDeco's recent quarterly report, it reported 5.14 million tonnes of material were mined from Rocklands over the period, though a portion of the quarter and the current one were impacted by a major rain event.
