Raising the Standard in tailings management

Mining companies, affected communities and investors welcomed the launch last year of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (the Standard) in the wake of the Brumadinho disaster. Initial take-up has also been impressive, but some critics say it could be more rigorous and have a stricter compliance timeline.
