The app, which is available on Sandvik's website, provides users with a list of recommended drill rigs based upon basic site condition and production requirement information. The app is accessible via desktop or mobile device and can be used as a website or as a mobile app.

According to the company, the advantage to using the app in a mobile environment is its availability without an internet or cellular connection. Users can install the app on their mobile devices without the need to visit the app store or similar site by clicking on the ‘Install App' button when viewing the website via a mobile browser.

The app has been designed to be intuitive to use. The first step for a user is to complete the project information (mine location, user's name, title, email, material mined); then select metric or imperial measures, the drilling method and project specifications (hole diameter, first pass capability, max depth) and submit for a list of recommended rigs; and finally, view the list of recommended rigs.

After viewing the recommended rigs, the user can quickly get in touch with Sandvik by clicking the request quote/contact us button. This will send the user's contact information and project specific information along with the list of recommended rigs to their Sandvik representative, who will get in contact to further discuss the specific needs.

Rob Ewanow, marketing manager, rotary drilling division at Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, commented: "In two screens and a couple of clicks customers can get an overview of which drill rig may help satisfy their needs. If they want to further discuss their requirements with their Sandvik representative one click is all it takes. How easy is that?"
