Industrial Internet of Things company Latium Technologies has released a sensor that monitors networks of high-voltage cables for damage or faults.

Latium Technologies looks to solve high-voltage failures with IoT sensor

Ingenious E-Sense solves the issue of mining companies needing to identify damaged segments and check each cable individually, said the firm.

The non-invasive, wireless IoT device has been designed to capture the electromagnetic field emitted by High-Voltage Cables.

Each sensor is equipped with millisecond accurate GPS-synched clocks that log the location and sequence of the drop in power

Each sensor communicates via LoRaWAN, enabling it to transmit messages at distances of up to 30KM and through steel & concrete structure.

In the event of an automatic shutdown, the devices immediately report to the Job Site Insights desktop and mobile interface pinpointing the faulty cable, alerting field operations teams to take   corrective action
