It says two of its software platforms, IMAFS and Shift Manager, will be hosted on the cloud this month.

IMAFS is an artificial intelligence software used to improve inventory management on site.

Shift Manager is RPMGlobal's operational management solution designed to execute short-term shift planning through one application without the need to be physically onsite.

RPMGlobal said while just two of its software platforms were available through cloud access, it hoped to transition its entire software offerings.

By offering its software via the cloud, RPMGlobal said there would be a range of benefits including increased ease of use, scalability and availability.

It will also introduce a more modern interface to allow for improved cost effectiveness and faster deployment.

RPMGobal chief technology officer Paul Beesley said cloud-based software would unlock additional productivity and sustainability opportunities for mining companies.

"Cloud applications facilitate remote collaboration and the scalability that mining organisations require while creating robust data storage solutions that are more cost-efficient when compared to outdated hardware," Beesley said.

"The transition to a full cloud offering across our full product portfolio is being enabled due to our above industry average investment in research and development and we look forward to continuing our progress in releasing more cloud offerings to the market soon."

According to RPMGlobal's recent annual report, the company spent $13.2 million on software development over the past financial year, up $1.6 million on the previous period.

"Most of this incremental investment was targeted at moving the company's products to the cloud," the software developer said.
