It is an open-pit mine that uses the dragline strip-mining method and provides approximately 5Mt/y of thermal coal to Sasol for conversion into synthetic fuels.

Anglo’s photographer captured the dragline in the open pit at dawn, silhouetting the equipment against the rising African sun.
