The work the two companies are set to do is expected to be completed in 2023

The agreement was inked during the ceremony marking the first phase of the facility; that phase will include a steep-incline conveyor at the site's southeastern edge.

UZTM-KARTEX will supply equipment and technological solutions to Metalloinvest as part of their collaboration. The goal for the project: to erect the inclined conveyor with a 35-million-tonne-per-year capacity at the northeastern edge of the mine.

It is scheduled for completion in 2023.

"UZTM-KARTEX[‘s]…enterprises previously supplied equipment for Pellet Plant No. 3 at Mikhailovsky GOK, and [now] they supply the enterprise with ore mining and processing equipment," Metalloinvest CEO Nazim Efendiev said.

UZTM-KARTEX chief executive officer Yan Tsenter noted that the construction for what will be the first domestically produced crushing and conveyor facility is a strategically important project.

"The creation of the Russian crushing and conveyor facility will enable our mining enterprises to significantly improve their efficiency, optimise ore extraction and transportation costs and reduce the share of imported equipment in the domestic market," Tsenter said.
