With a total of C$310,000 for the support of talent and innovative research, CROSH will have the ability to advance three key projects in mobile equipment hazards, advancing Indigenous occupational health and safety and improving worker safety for those in the proximity of heavy equipment.

Specifically, the awards include C$182,000 from the MOL Occupational Health and Safety Prevention Innovation Program to support the project 'Development of Knowledge Transfer Kits to Address Mobile Equipment Hazards.' In it, researchers will create a trio of kits related to mobile equipment operation hazards such as line-of-sight and situational awareness, exposure to vibration, and fatigue and musculoskeletal disorders.

Another C$68,000 from the MOL Research Opportunities Program has been earmarked to support 'Mino-nokiiwin: Advancing an Understanding of Indigenous Occupational Health and Safety in Northeastern Ontario.'

Finally, C$59,000 from the MOL Research Opportunities Program and the Evidence for Practice will support a project aiming to improve line-of-sight knowledge for pedestrians working around heavy equipment by developing and testing a line-of-sight virtual reality intervention.

All projects were subject to a rigorous peer review evaluation; selections were based on research excellence and societal benefits.
