PRESS RELEASE: This is Newtrax’s fourth deployment in a Fresnillo mine, after Saucito, San Julian and Cienega. The Fresnillo operation, located in Zacatcas, Mexico, is one of the world’s oldest continuously operating mines; producing 33% of the group’s total silver in 2015 and generating 20.1% of total adjusted revenue.

The Newtrax safety system will be deployed on 2,566 personal safety devices and Bi MET will be installed on 260 items of mobile equipment.

Carlos Vidales, general manager at the Fresnillo mine, said: “Fresnillo has made a commitment to its employees and contractors that all their operations will be safe and productive, with zero incidents. To achieve this goal, we decided to apply innovative technologies such as Newtrax to fulfil our promise of having the safest and most productive underground mine possible.”

The safety and productivity solutions that will be deployed at Fresnillo mine include:

  • Proximity Warning;
  • Personnel & Vehicle tracking;
  • Man Down;
  • Mine-wide Evacuation notification;
  • Anti-Collision Emergency Stop system; and
  • Mobile Equipment Telemetry system.

Boris Burgos, sales director at Newtrax Latin America, commented: “It’s fantastic to see Fresnillo’s flagship mine finally join the Newtrax journey. We’ve seen our products and solutions bring significant value to Fresnillo’s sister mines so we are confident that this deployment will only strengthen their mission to becoming the safest and most productive mine in Latin America.”

Deployment of the mine-wide system will start in mid-2018.
