It has bought Vancouver, Canada-based FVT Research, which has developed the diesel to electric conversion skills, for an undisclosed sum.
FVT designs diesel-to-battery conversion kits and rebuilds mining machines to electric versions.
It was part of a recent project to convert a diesel-powered Epiroc Scooptram ST1030 loader to battery-electric.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.
FVT Research has about 25 employees.
Epiroc president and CEO Helena Hedblom said bringing FVT Research's team into Epiroc fitted with the company's plan to provide emissions-free battery-electric vehicles.
"Our customers are increasingly discovering the significant benefits that come with using battery-electric vehicles and FVT Research's technical expertise and competence will be key assets for Epiroc as we continue to provide more solutions in this area," she said.
