Australian Financial Review reported that the deal, made for an undisclosed sum, involves more than 300 items from Cliffs' Koolyanobbing operation in Western Australia.

A request from Mining Magazine to Gordon Brothers officials was not returned, but firm managing director told AFR it is expanding its Australian footprint by working both directly with companies and with banks.

The equipment is expected to be sold in the near future to other operations, he added.

Koolyanobbing, located 54km outside of Southern Cross and 420km north-east of Perth, was slated for closure this year, but the company announced in June the complex and its jobs would be saved by Mineral Resources (MinRes).
