Surface equipment spending still rising

Spending on mobile capital equipment for the world’s surface mines slowed in the final quarter of 2018 but was up 35% for the year, compared with the previous 12 months. And estimates by a leading international research firm still put capital expenditure on top-end surface equipment in 2018 at about half the levels reached in the peak year, 2012.
