Wabtec and SMS sign Canada CAS deal

US-based Wabtec has entered a collaboration with Canada-based SMS Equipment aimed at supporting the use of Wabtec’s Collision Awareness System (CAS) by Canadian mining companies.

Wabtec's Digital Mine organization, which markets the company's suite of mining technology products, will leverage SMS Equipment's market presence in Canada.

Wabtec's CAS system uses GPS constellations for situational awareness of all traffic. Other features include redundant receivers and antenna, and continuous self-tests to increase the system's reliability.

Four cameras provide 360-degree vision around a haul truck, GPS & V2V Radio
provide long-range predictive proximity alerts, and four RF units provide 360 degree
automatic object detection.
