Normet and Hindustan Zinc sign mining BEV deal

Deal makes Hindustan Zinc the first mining company in India to deploy BEVs underground

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the companies makes Hindustan Zinc the first mining company in India to deploy BEVs in underground mining.

"We believe the introduction of Battery Electric Vehicle in underground mining will be a game-changer for the industry and a big leap by India towards Responsible Mining," said Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc. 

Subhasis Mohanty, Normet's VP of India sales, added "Our partnership with Hindustan Zinc for the Normet SmartDrive Vehicles is a step on our collective journey for safe, sustainable and green mining." 

Normet's SmartDrive range includes the Spraymec 8100, an electro-hydraulic self-propelled mobile concrete sprayer, and the Utilift MF 540 SD scissor lifter.
