Diamcor Mining, a Canadian mining company, will accelerate certain portions of its Phase 2 expansions at the Korone-Endora at Venetia project in South Africa to meet the growing demand for diamonds. 

The company said it would accelerate the installation of additional screening, water management systems and various other associated infrastructure items.

The installation of these items ahead of schedule aims to increase the current processing volumes and efficiencies of the completed Phase 1 expansions, the company said.

Additionally, the company also said it would still look to install additional x-ray diamond sorting units remains a priority, but this would not be a priority as it believes current infrastructure will be enough to manage the increase in capacity.

The company noted that planned enhancements to the project's water recovery system are also being accelerated to support the higher tonnages generated by the screening additions.

This addition is also expected to lower water consumption on a per ton basis through improvements in wastewater recovery. 

Dean Taylor, Diamcor's chief executive officer, said the accelerated upgrades would enable the company to increase processing volumes and alleviate supply shortages in the future.
