It is the first international office for the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania headquartered group, which develops autonomous aerial robot systems and mapping technology.

Chief executive Nader Elm said Exyn is aiming to not only offer a better service to its Canadian clients with the move, but it will also allow for its engineering and product teams to conduct live demonstrations and environment testing.

Exyn recently released its ExynAero and ExynPAK products for efficient data collection in challenging environments. As its new home in Sudbury is in the Norcat building, markets and industries director Raffi Jabrayan noted Exyn will be surrounded by other companies changing the future of mining.

"Norcat's mandate is to help start and accelerate the growth of innovative companies that will drive future economic and social prosperity. We're excited to be…providing our unique resources and services at the Norcat Underground Centre to support [their] continued growth," Norcat chief executive Don Duval added.

Privately held Exyn is a spin-out of the University of Pennsylvania's GRASP Laboratory.
