The 68 crore (approximately US$10.7 million) purchase of the 700-litre-capacity machine was commissioned for the lignite operation on January 1, five months ahead of schedule.

It was initially ordered last July, according to the Pioneer. The order included design and manufacture of all mechanical, structural and electrical components.

Company officials told local media the equipment was “indigenously manufactured” and will have the capacity to operate at 1,400 cubic metres per hour.

“Besides reaching the target and carrying out the work in time, it is more important that all the work should be accomplished without any incident of accident,” said Coal Secretary Susheel Kumar, who was on hand for the commissioning.
