The deal announced this month will allow the company to offer a complete collection of tailings solutions.

Weir division president Ricardo Garib noted that the pairing will bring together its capabilities with Andritz’s extensive tailings thickening knowledge for a market that is growing and driven by both environmental and governmental factors.

“We understand our customers are under increased pressure to further improve the management of their mine tailings, which is why we have partnered with Andritz,” Garib said, adding that its Warman, GEHO and Cavex lines are already known globally.

The cooperative agreement helps Weir grab the lead in the tailings solutions space, especially since opening its Weir Technical Centre in 2016. That addition, the company said, enhanced its global line by developing and testing pipeline and tailings solutions, as well as manufacturing specific tailings-based products.

“This latest agreement complements our overall tailings offering and enables us to provide our customers with a complete tailings solution,” Garib said. “Under the brand name IsoDry, we will now offer customers a range of mechanical separation technologies, such as thickeners, filter presses, centrifuges and vacuum belt filters.”
