The company specialises in high reliability and critical risk application, as well as the design and manufacture of parallel, right angle and planetary drives of up to 16 million inch pounds (1.8 million Newton metres) of torque.

It has leveraged its nine decades of expertise in the growth, it said, as the Brad Foote division optimises design, manufactures components and performs internal testing.

"We have AGMA Grade 3 heat treat capacities along with high-precision grinding," Gearing segment president Dan Schueller said. "All gearboxes and components are 100% inspected to stringent specifications, and our ultrasonic, magnetic particle and full metallurgical testing in-house ensures we meet our customers' demands for high-quality and reliable products."

Company CEO Stephanie Kushner added that the gearing segment has seen a turnaround, as mining as well as oil and gas and other industrial areas, have had a recovery. Orders for the loose gearing and gearbox segment last year totalled US$37 million, up 150% over 2016.

Broadwind produces structures, equipment and components for clean tech and other specialised applications.
