The gold mine's fleet of 17 Epiroc (Atlas Copco) MT6020 underground haul trucks is now equipped with RCT's Muirhead Fuel Cap Isolation system to prevent incidents when refuelling.

The system has been designed to prevent machine operators from starting the machine and driving away with the fuel filler still attached.

According to RCT, this can eliminate damage to machines, refuelling stations, hoses, prevent hazardous spills and save money in downtime costs.

The system also has an intrinsically safe circuit design, with supporting safety certification for the fuel cap component.

RCT said the implementation of the fuel cap isolation system is another way of safeguarding operators.
