The OEM, which did not disclose the value of the deal, confirmed the shipper will work alongside its own international suppliers and offices for end-to-end airfreight imports of aftermarket items, mainly from the US and Japan, to its Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, Australia, distribution centres.

DHL will manage the entire customs brokerage process to ensure trade and regulatory compliance and maintain supply chain optimisation.

"Annually, we transact in excess of 1.5 million stock keeping units (SKU) line sales in Australia. Often, exceptional customer service comes down to having products and parts precisely available when our customers need them," Komatsu Australia CEO and MD Sean Taylor said.

"Logistics is a key component of our ability to deliver a first rate customer experience ensuring that our supply chain is fully optimised."

DHL Express Oceania CEO and SVP Gary Edstein noted that the firm had supported the OEM with its time-definite international express services for more than a decade.

"Komatsu's customers have come to expect minimal downtime from operating their equipment, and DHL Express' global network plays an important role in ensuring critical parts and documentation get to them on time, wherever they are," he said.

DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding are divisions of Deutsche Post DHL Group.
